What a man and ball player Ripken was!!  He was one of my favorite Orioles' players along with Eddie Murray and Jim Palmer.  Before that, of course was my favorite 3rd baseman of all time:  Brooks Robinson.

'The Streak' did more than anything else to bring back baseball fans embittered by the baseball strike  If the baseball players hadn't have had such a basic, blue collar guy to act as their face for the post-strike period it would have taken baseball years to win back some of those fans.
One thing about Ripken though, I never saw anyone tinker with his swing as much as he did.  And by 'tinker' I mean blow it to smithereens and come up with something completely different.
