Anyone who talks about fake news as if it was something new should become familiar with these guys.  Even infowars has nothing on these guys.

According to the legend, that is the reply that Hearst sent to Frederic Remington, his illustrator sent to observe the Cuban insurrection, when Remington wrote to him that there was no war to cover.
Remington is well known for his Western American art.  Here's one of his illustrations from Cuba.

Exactly.  I think most educated people are aware of this, but do not consider it when discussing modern news media.  People hearken back to days of objective journalism that never actually existed.  From it's earliest days news media was a political tool, used to drive opinion and events more than to report them.
