But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’
Whatever is more than these is of evil. (Matthew 5:37)
Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

Regarding "lying" and the 2016 election, the problem stems from opposing worldviews. Two people who have diametrically opposed worldviews often see themselves as "truthful" and the other person as a "liar." In other words, each one has his own definition of what the "truth" is, and anyone who does not accept that definition of the "truth" is seen as a "liar."

"americans most admire the men that tell them the most extravagant lies; americans most despise those that try to tell them the truth."
HL Menkhen

"When is telling the truth no better than lying?"
When the truth is spoken in hate, Ephesians 4:15.

Cry wolf will one day harm oneself or in this case a nation.
Just a thought, if truth is reveal in private at ones weak state or inappropriate timing. People with power can clean most of its evidence and transform truth into liars. Therefore I feel that truth told in private is harmful. Truth need to be announced to the mass, with evidence, at appropriate time. Otherwise it harm justice and free criminals. I understand one need to beware of becoming a monster when one is hunting one. There needs to be a balance.
